Size Inclusive Fitness & Anti-Diet Nutrition

Helping people break free from diet culture to get strong AF!

Our bodies are made to be different from one another, yet we’re constantly told to fit into a narrow, idealistic definition of beauty and health that is often unsustainable.

Instead, learn how to celebrate what your body can do rather than how it looks by embracing nourishment rather than restriction, body neutrality instead of self-hate, anti-diet instead of diet culture, and health at every size in place of a weight-normative approach.

If you ever felt like you didn’t belong in the gym, this is the place for you. Break free from diet culture and self-limiting beliefs to discover your strongest, healthiest self in a supportive, judgment-free community in the heart of downtown Vancouver.

Step 1:

Book a free consultation

No obligation, no pressure, just two people getting to know each other! This is an opportunity for you to tour the gym and to chat about your needs, any goals you may have, injuries and medical conditions, past gym experience, how often you’d like to train, concerns, favourite video games—whatever you think is pertinent for your coach to know so she can serve you best!

How do I get started?

Step 2:

The first workout

Your trainer will review all the details you provided in the consultation to build you an individualized program that meets you on your level. This way, you leave your first workout feeling accomplished rather than you just got your ass handed to you.

Step 3:

Get strong AF

Discover confidence and empowerment through personal training. Feel yourself get stronger week by week, unlock your tight muscles and restricted range of motion, and learn how to eat intuitively to support your performance inside and outside the gym.

Your Coach

Kate Czerwenka

Personal Training Vancouver

Kate took a long, wayward path to becoming a personal trainer and nutrition coach which began with graduating from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of English. Obviously, that didn’t pan out, and after a few years in advertising, Kate decided she needed a fresh start.

At the time, Kate’s interests predominantly centered around travel, reading, playing an embarrassing amount of video games, and working out. The first three options didn’t seem like realistic income opportunities, but the latter piqued her interest. Kate never enjoyed any of the many sports she tried, but after finding a wonderful personal trainer, she realized the gym was her home. It was a safe space to laugh with friends, challenge her physical limitations, and discover her confidence. She always left her training sessions feeling better than when she came in, so she decided to share that feeling with others by becoming a trainer herself.

Initially, Kate styled herself as a weight loss coach; after all, she had lost 50lbs over the course of her training, so that made her an expert on getting people thin (insert heavy sarcasm). While her clients lost weight, they usually gained it back, a struggle Kate also dealt with for nearly 15 years of dieting and weight cycling. The quest to be thin was never-ending, and no matter how lean she got, it was never enough. Exhausted, hungry, and defeated, Kate realized her healthy behaviours had become unhealthy over time and sought help for an eating disorder.

Recovery was difficult as she was forced to face her fear of weight gain and reevaluate her beliefs surrounding healthy=thin, but every day got a little easier and soon she felt free from her obsession with food and exercise. She cared less about the number on the scale (which she later threw into a dumpster) and focused more on eating intuitively, joyful movement, and celebrating her strength gains. She learned how to be a better coach by teaching others to fuel themselves and eat without guilt, and how to find confidence through strength training instead of aesthetics.

With 7 years of training experience, Kate has finally found her path: to help those ostracized from the fitness industry feel welcome, to teach the chronic dieter how to make peace with their food and body, and show that exercise isn’t punishment, but a gratifying reward.
